Railways medical staff up in arms to deal with any situation, amid Corona crisis: DRM
Ferozepur, July 30, 2020: The medical staff of railways in its hospitals is committed to discharging its professional as well as social responsibilities. They are up in arms to deal with any situation amid the Corona crisis. In this hour of crisis, it is our duty to encourage the frontline Corona warriors, said DRM Rajesh Aggarwal.
The Permanent Negotiation Machinery – PNM could not meet in the division for the last five months in the Corona pandemic but by making available the adequate infrastructure, the medical staff at railway hospitals in the division has undertaken many tasks, said DRM Rajesh Aggarwal.
DRM said that Indian Railways is a very large organization in which more than 13 lakh employees work. The Permanent Negotiation Machinery - PNM was established in 1974 to remove small and big policy problems faced by employees in such a large family. Since then, it has been working for 46 years to fulfill its objectives. Through this, all the problems of the employees, big and small, are resolved in collaboration with the administration.
He said, due to the Corona period, the PNM has not met in the division for the last 5 months. During this time, Railways has done many tasks for protection from Covid-19 such as Medical counseling facility has been started for railway and other central employees through video calling at Railway Hospital, Ferozepur and patients can consult their doctors through video conferencing on helpline number - 9779232535.
DRM said, during the lockdown period, 20 major and 27 minor emergency surgeries were performed to the beneficiaries of the railway. During the last one month, about 89 patients were admitted out of which 18 patients with fever were treated at the Railway Hospital. Regular FLU clinics are being operated in Ferozepur Cantt, Amritsar and Ludhiana to prevent infection of COVID. The scouts and volunteers have been trained by doctors to perform COVID related duties in all the hospitals and health units of the division. A total of 214 beds have been arranged for quarantine at all major stations of the division. The purchase and distribution of various types of PPE kits have been ensured to protect against Covid-19.
Admitting the fact, DRM said, despite so many efforts, the employees have faced some inconveniences to get medical attention. Considering the demands raised by the union, the same has been removed with immediate effect. The complete list of all private hospitals recognized by the railways is displayed in all railway hospitals. Necessary medical equipment is available in all railway hospitals and new equipment is also purchased every year. Adequate impressions are available for proper ambulance arrangements in all railway hospitals and tenders for ambulances are being made in Divisional Hospital, Ferozepur. Medicines written by the Central Hospital and a recognized private hospital, if not available in the store, are made available by local purchase. The action on the remaining demands will also be initiated.
He said, in this period of disaster, it is important and also the demand of the hour to encourage the Corona warriors which include doctors, paramedical staff etc.
