Chandigarh, August 5, 2020: Thirteen Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, who were about to join Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s security detail have tested positive.
Refuting media reports that personnel already deployed for CM’s security had tested positive, a senior official in Chief Minister’s Office told babushahi.com that the jawans who have tested positive were not deployed with the CM.
“There are two units of CRPF earmarked for CM’s security and they work on rotation. One unit is deployed for security of the CM while the other is in reserve. When it is the time for the reserve unit to deploy for security, all personnel undergo a mandatory coronavirus test. When the result of this test came out, 13 personnel tested positive and they have been withdrawn and are undergoing treatment,” said the officer.
He added that at no time was the CM in danger of contracting the disease as suggested by media reports.
