- Truenat Testing Enabled at Rajindra Hospital for Early Detection of covid in Emergency Cases
Patiala, August 8, 2020 - Mr. Amit Kumar, Special Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research visited Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital Patiala today and took stock of the COVID situation in the district and the treatment and care of COVID patients. Similarly a Truenat machine was also made functional at Rajindra Hospital for testing of emergency and surgery cases besides frontline warriors.
Meanwhile, Mr. Amit Kumar also hold a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit, PDA Chief Administrator and incharge of Covid Care Mrs. Surbhi Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Dr. Preeti Yadav, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr. Nirmal Oseppachan, Director, Medical Education Dr. Avnish Kumar, Principal, Govt Medical College Dr. Harjinder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Harish Malhotra, Medical Superintendent Dr. Paras Pandov. In the meeting, they discussed about enhancing the testing capacity in the district and further improving the advanced treatment facilities at Rajindra Hospital.
Mr. Amit Kumar directed the Civil Surgeon to increase the testing to check the spread of COVID in the district so that the epidemic could not spread further. He also appealed to the people to get tested immediately in case of developing any symptoms so that they could be treated in time if they tested positive. He said that 100 per cent testing should be done in the containment zones and emphasis should be laid on locating maximum COVID contacts.
Instructing further to ensure that the health check up of the patients admitted in the isolation ward of Rajindra Hospital to be done as per the prescribed norms, Mr. Amit Kumar said that there should not be lack of infrastructure facilities and whatever they need, would be provided in time.
Mr. Amit Kumar said that at Rajindra Hospital, patients from private hospitals in Haryana and other major cities of Punjab come in critical condition but our doctors and other medical personnel are committed to take care of the patients at the risk of their lives. He appreciated the hospital authorities for being the only hospital in the region, having dialysis facility for COVID patients.
