Concerned can apply online or visit nearest Sewa Kendra

Nagar, August 17, 2020 : In order to issue online a Unique ID cards to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from Punjab, a project named " Unique ID for persons with disabilities” has been implemented in the District. Digitized Certificates/ID cards are being issued to the disabled under this project. Till date 7294 applications for Unique ID cards for PwDs have been received out of which 2512 have been issued and others are being processed, informed Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan.
SAS Nagar has done a very successful job on the project so far by registering a large number of applications, said DC. “We target to cover all PWDs under the project in the ensuing three months,” said Girish Dayalan. He informed that in order to get the cards made, under the Unique ID cards for PwDs project, www.swablambancard.gov.in portal has been made. Any Divyang can register on it either online or by visiting nearest Sewa Kendra, Health Center, office of Civil Surgeon or District Social Security or that of Child Development Project Officer. He urged the PwDs to register themselves earliest in order to obtain the unique ID cards and the digitized certificates.
Harvinder Singh Rahi, District Social Security Officer(DSSO), informed that apart from all facilities extended under Rights of Persons With Disabilities Act 2016, the card holders are entitled to half fare facility in the buses of Punjab Roadways and PRTC and the pension benefit provided by the Social Security Department under the Financial Assistance Scheme. Besides, they are entitled to concessions given from time to time by the government in the recruitment, promotions and concessions in road tax and excise duty on vehicles for the special needs persons. Divyang are also exempted from toll tax on their personal vehicles. Scholarships are given by the Department of Education and Social Security to Divyang students. Apart from this, these unique identity cards and certificates will be helpful in providing them the assistive devices and prosthesis.
