Pak based Foundation seeks Bharat Ratna for Bhagat Singh on his 113th birth anniversary
Ferozepur, September 28, 2020 : Pakistan based Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation today celebrated 113th birth anniversary of great revolutionary leader Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Democratic Law, Lahore High Court Bar Association Lahore and sought highest award of Bharat Ratna from Prime Minister of India.
Chairman, Bhagat Singh Memorial, Foudnataion, Pakistan Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi said, a heartfelt tributes were paid to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his judicial assassination was strongly criticized. The meeting was presided over by Abdul Rashid Qureshi Advocate Supreme court of Pakistan Patron in Chief Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan along with Rana Zia Abdul Rehman Ex President Lahore High Court bar Association when number of persons were present.
He said, the Foundation passed the three resolutions – to make an appeal to Prime Minister of India, Narendera Modi that Bhagat Singh be awarded Bharat Ratna award – India’s highest civilian award by the Indian Government,.
In the second resolution, a similar highest award of Pakistan with Nishan-e-Pakistan, was demanded from Prime Minister, Pakistan Imran Khan, recognizing the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh in the freedom movement.
And in the third resolution, the Foundataion called upon the governments India and Pakistan to embark on a long journey of friendship based on Bhagat Singh’s ideology, which could lead to financial prosperity in both the countries and which may end inflation, hatred by expediting the easy visa process.
Added here, Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, Chairman of the Foundation is also fighting in the court of law at Lahore to prove the innocence of Bhagat Singh as his name and the name of his associates – Rajguru and Sukhdev – did not appear in the FIR registered against them in Urdu. Besides, he has also taken up the matter with the Pakistan government to rename the Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk.
He said, fighting for the freedom of the people for an independent state, was not a crime. Bhagat Singh was given death sentence unceremoniously without going into the facts of the case as his name did not appear in the FIR lodged at Lahore police station.
I will continue to fight for the innocence of Bhagat Singh, who is also the hero of Pakistan, in the court of law and renaming of Shadman chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk, till I am alive, said Qureshi.
