UP police DIG’s wife commits suicide
Lucknow, October 24, 2020: Pushpa Devi, 36 wife of a senior Uttar Pradesh police officer DIG Chandra Prakash committed suicide at her residence at Lucknow residence.
Chandra Prakash is a member of Special Investigation Team – SIT formed to probe into Hathras murder and gang-rape case of a 19-year-old woman during the last month and presently posted as DIG, Police Training Centre, Unnao.
The victim - Pushpa Devi – was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home. As per the reports, she had made a call to her husband before hanging saying – “Aap Ki Zindgi Aap Ko Mubarak Ho, Me Ja Rahi Hu” On hearing his, DIG reached home but by that time, Pushpa had bolted the room and committed suicide. By break opening the door, she was taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.
ADCP Suresh Chander Rawat informed that in the family apart from Pushpa, they had daughter Ananya, 13, Kritka 12 and 7 year old son Diyansh.
According to Naveen Arora, Joint Commission of Police (Law and Order), no suicide note has been found and the investigations are going on.
