Local bodies department to make sure fogging properly

Stressing on the need for coordinated efforts to curb Dengue spread, ADC (G) Pooja Sayal Grewal said that by showing a team spirit we can stop the further spread of Dengue. Expressing concern upon the increasing number of Dengue, she directed all the departments to observe Friday strictly as DRY Day by minutely checking Dengue Larvae in their offices and also make aware the masses of the Dry Day.
Taking the stock of preventive measures taken in the district to control the Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunia diseases, she said that it was not only the duty of Health department to fight Dengue and other diseases, other departments should also work in tandem to make our district free of vector borne diseases. Fixing the responsibility of SDMs to supervise Dengue preventive measures in their respective sub divisions, she said that the urban pockets that have more cases, would be monitored especially. She asked the Deputy Director Local Bodies Ms Jashanjit Kaur Gill to ensure regular fogging in all the urban areas through respective Municipal Councils so that residents could be saved from the Dengue infection.
Similarly, ADC Pooja Sayal Grewal directed the Rural Development and Panchayat Department officials to start awareness as well as larvae checking practice in rural areas too. To take strict measures in urban and rural areas, she asked District Education Officers to make aware the students of the Dengue and how to destroy the larvae also by observing Dry Day and other precautions.
Earlier, Civil Surgeon Dr. Harish Malhotra briefed the house of the measures taken to check Dengue and other vector borne diseases in the district. He said that the health teams had visited 5,10,575 households besides destroying Dengue Larvae at 2903 places. District has reported 173 Dengue cases so far and many of them belong to Patiala city area and Rajpura area that have been designated as high risk areas for further preventive action.
He further said that Dengue wards have been set up in Rajindra Hospital, District Hospital, Sub Divisional Hospitals, Community and Primary Health Centers and all the requisite medicines have been made available free of cost. Apart from that Eliza tests are conducted free of cost at Government Rajindra Hospital, Mata Kaushalya District Hospital and Sub Divisional Hospital Nabha while private labs have been directed to conduct this test at Government fixed price of Rs 600 only. Similarly, private hospitals have also been asked to adhere to health department guidelines in Dengue treatment besides avoiding frequent blood tests barring the patients having less than one lakh cells.
