The family members of the deceased Harjit Singh and SAD leaders alleged that the cause of the death of Harjit Singh was beating and manhandling by supporters of Sarna Dal but Sarna Dal leaders denied any such incident. The turnout of voters was 44 % last time. There are total 265 candidates contesting for these elections .144 are contesting as independents. The main contest was between SAD and Delhi Akali Dal lead by Sarna brothers. The polling was held at 544 polling stations in Delhi amid heavy security arrangements. The Sikh voters did not came out in big numbers to cast their vote to elect their representatives for the religious body, controlling Gurdwaras in national capital, despite the high pitched campaign between by both parties and their candidates.
