Smugglers’ gang cracked down in Ferozepur, 2 held with weapons and fake currency
Ferozepur, January 25, 2022: Working swiftly under the campaign against the anti-social elements, especially in the border villages along the international Indo-Pak border, ahead of Republic Day celebrations and Assembly elections in Punjab, under instructions of Elections Commission of India and Chief Election Officer Punjab, cracked smugglers’ gang with the arrest of two members with the recovery of pistol, fake currency notes, live cartridges, mobiles, dongle, plastic rope, car, and stolen motorcycles.
Divulging with the details, Dr.Narinder Bhargawa said, a team headed by Manwinder Singh SP(I), Jagdish Kumar, DSP, Jagdish Kumar CIA staff in charge was constituted for a search operation in the border villages. During the patrolling near village Madhre Hussainiwala road, a tip-off was received by Tara Singh, SI that Balwinder Singh alias Vindi of Saddu Shah Wala, Tek Chand and Arun Bhatti of village Bare Ke, are arranging heroin, weapons, fake currency from Pakistan smugglers and doing the business of drug smuggling by using the stolen vehicles with fake registration numbers. They are likely to come to Ferozepur and can be nabbed with the consignment. Two gang members – Vikram and Arun Bhatti have been arrested with the recovery of Rs.80,000 fake currency notes in denomination of Rs.2,000, pistol 30 bore Made in China with 25 live cartridges, five mobiles, one dongle, one Maruti 800 car, 3 stolen motorcycles, and 400 ft plastic rope. The other two accomplices Tek Chand and Balwinder Singh who managed to escape on motorcycles, are yet to be arrested.
SSP said, during the preliminary investigation, it has come on the surface that earlier also they had arranged the heroin consignment three-for times and now on the night of 24-25 January, 6 kg heroin has been arranged with the help of the plastic rope, which is in the kit back of Tek Chand and Balwinder Singh.
The two arrested accused have been booked under various Sections of IPC, NDPC, and Arms Acts and will be produced in the court to get the police remand. In reply to a question, SSP said, as of now, there is no criminal history of the accused but more important clues are likely to come to the surface during further investigation.
