Record jump in lifting of wheat from Fazlka mandis due to DC's Micro-level monitoring
Fazilka, April 24, 2024: Due to the micro-level monitoring by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal, there has been a 5-fold increase in wheat lifting in two days, in district Fazilka. On April 21, when the agencies of the district had lifted 4095 metric tons of wheat, on April 22 this figure crossed 12236 metric tons and yesterday on April 23, the agencies lifted 23493 metric tons of wheat. It is to be mentioned that since the last two days, the Deputy Commissioner herself has been visiting the procurement yards, and godowns and supervising the procurement arrangements.
On the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner of Fazilka, Dr. Senu Duggal, held a meeting with the officials of various procurement agencies reviewed the procurement arrangements for wheat and ordered the officials to speed up the lifting of wheat. She also visited Jalalabad Mandi.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the officials should ensure that no farmer faces any problem in Mandies. She said that the purchasing agencies should also ensure that the lifting targets are met according to the purchase of wheat. She strongly warned the transport contractor to provide trucks and labour as per the demand of the agencies.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that till now a total of 2,52,455 MTs of wheat has arrived in the markets and 2,32,782 MTs have been purchased. Pangrain has procured 59,151 MT, Markfed 69,020 MTs, PUNSUP 60,121 MT, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation 34,998 MTs, FCI 1200 MTs and Private Traders 8,292 MTs.
The Deputy Commissioner said that as per the rule of payment of wheat purchased in 48 hours, Rs 335.7 crore has been paid against the due payment of Rs 292 crore, which means that the amount has reached the farmers' accounts in less than 48 hours after the sale of wheat.
The Deputy Commissioner said that negligence in the lifting work will not be tolerated and action will be taken as per the rules against anyone found lax.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Rakesh Kumar Popli, SDM Jalalabad Balkaran Singh, Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh, DFSC Himansu Kukkar, District Mandi Officer Jasmeet Singh, DM Markfed Vipan Kumar and officials of various procurement agencies were also present.
