Health dept releases banner for World Hemophilia and Thalassemia Day
10-day awareness campaign from May 8-17
Ferozepur, 7 May 2024: The Health Department in Ferozepur released the banner regarding World Hemophilia and Thalassemia Day in a meeting of SMOs and Programme Officers, presided over by Dr.Meenakshi Abrol, Civil Surgeon, saying that the free of charge treatment is provided in medical colleges and government hospitals in the district.
Dr Meenakshi Abrol instructed the officials of the health institutions. She appealed to the common people to cooperate with the teams of the health department to prevent malaria, dengue and chikungunya with specific instructions that water should not be allowed to collect in and around the houses.
Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Sushma Thakkar said that the health facilities provided to pregnant women and newborn children in the district are free at all government hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres and sub-centres. During these days, consume more fluids to avoid heat and diarrhoea as when there is excess heat, our body releases heat in the form of sweat and keeps the temperature under control due to a lack of water in the body. After a certain limit, this system of our body stops working and the body becomes similar to the outside temperature, which is called hypothermia or heat stroke. Generally, people take it lightly due to which they become victims of diseases. People are at high risk of catching the flu.
Making an appeal, Dr Thakkar said, that to take precautions to avoid heat/cold the children, elderly and pregnant women should not leave the house unnecessarily for work, use home-made nutritious food, not eat fried or fast food, and maximum attention should be paid to cleanliness and liquids like water, milk, ORS should be consumed.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Kumar and Deputy Mass Media Officer Sandeep said that from May 8 to May 17, the health department is conducting a 10-day awareness campaign regarding hemophilia and thalassemia from the district level to the block level, these blood-related diseases will be highlighted to the people.
In the meeting, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr Gurmez Ram, Epidemiologist Dr Shaminder Dr Yuvraj, Senior Medical Officer Dr BalkarDr, Dr Rekha, Dr Karanjit, Dr Vishal, District Program Officer Harish and others were present.
