Patiala, April 23 : The Congress party campaign in the Patiala lok sabha constituency received a big blow today when staunch Amarinder loyalist and former Mayor Vishnu Sharma joined the Shiromani Akali Dal along with his supporters in the presence of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and party President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal here today. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Vishnu Sharma said that Congress led UPA has gifted corruption, escalation of prices of essential commodities besides misrule to the people of the country during last ten years. He said that on the other hand is the SAD-BJP government led by S. Parkash Singh Badal and S. Sukhbir Singh Badal which has carried out unprecedented development besides providing society securities scheme for the different sections of the society. Those who joined the SAD with Vishnu Sharma included Gurdev Singh Punia, Baljit Kaur Punia, Monika Grover, Sharda Devi, Pawan Nagrath (all former Municipal Counicillors), Youth Congress rural President Vinod Arora Kalu, district general secretary Dalbir Singh, Vice President Bhushan Sharma, General Secretary Rajan Puri, Narinder Dhiman, Dr. Rakesh Arya besides others. These leaders have joined the SAD without any pre condition. Mr Vishnu Sharma said that the Congress party has deliberately ignored the hindu community all along. He said that though the matter was brought to the notice of All Indian Congress Committee General Secretary Shakeel Ahmad and other senior leaders but didn’t took interest in the problem. He said that on the hand the SAD had given tickets to 12 members of the community out of which 11 emerged victorious and became MLAs. Welcoming these leaders in party fold the SAD President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the pro people policies of the SAD is encouraging the people to join the SAD who would get the due honors. He rejected the idea that the workers and leaders of the SAD were felt disappointed on the incoming of these leaders. Responding to queries of the media, Mr. Badal said that the SAD-BJP combine candidate from Patiala Mr. Deepinder Singh Dhillon will win the seat with more a margin of more than one lakh votes. He said that husband of the Congress candidate, Former Chief Minister and Amritsar Congress candidate Capt. Amarinder has a special desire to see her defeated. He exuded confidence that the coalition will win all the 13 seats in the state and NDA would form the next government at the centre under the leadership of Mr. Narinder Modi. Launching a scathing attack on Manpreet Singh Badal, the SAD President said that he can do anything. He first deserted the SAD in a deep rooted conspiracy to cause damage to the SAD and former PPP. He then joined hands with the Communists leaders only to dump then on the poll eve and join the Congress party to contest from Bathinda. On the occasion Mr Surjit Singh Rakhra Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Pb., Biba Amarjit Kaur former MP, Mayor Mr. Amarinder Singh Bajaj, former Mayor Mr. Jaspal Singh Pradhan, Mr. Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra President Youth wing rural, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Raju khanna former Chairman, Mr. Ajay Thapar senior leader, Mr. Sukhwinderpal Singh Minta, Mr. Ravinderpal Singh Johny Kohli, Mr. Balbir Singh Kharoud, Mr. Jaswant Singh Tiwana, Rachpal Singh Dhanju, Gurwinder Singh Dhiman and Amarjit Singh Bathla (all Municipal counicillors) besides other leaders of the SAD-BJP combine were also present.
