Amritsar, July 26 – In a significant development in the Sikh Panthic circle, Jathedar Akal Takht Gyani Gurbachan Singh here today issued directives to Sikhs of Haryana, ruling political party SAD (Badal) and entire Sikh community not to hold any kind of rally/convention tomorrow (Sunday) in Amritsar by SAD and in Karnal by Haryana based Sikh leaders on Monday. In a hurriedly called press conference here today, Jathedar said that in the light of present prevailing circumstances with regard to Sikh Community, nobody could be allowed to hold convention or rally anywhere in Punjab and Haryana as it may deepen crises in the Sikh Circle. Keeping in the view the unwanted incident at Saharnpur in UP where Sikh community was already in dilemma, everybody should focus attention to ease situation there. SGPC team led by president Avtar Singh Makkar has been directed to reach at Saharnpur to do the needful to ease situation, said Jathedar Talking about the separate Haryana Gurdwara Management Committee, Jathedar said that both the parties (Sikh leaders from Haryana and Akali leaders from Punjab) would be asked to come at Akal Takht to find out the solution of current problem arose after the formation of Separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana. However, Sikh leaders from neighbouring state Haryana was in no mood to relent on the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), was laying focus on the Panthic convention, was scheduled on Monday . Whereas the World Sikh Conference, convened by Punjab’s ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) at the Manji Sahib hall in the Golden Temple complex was fixed on the same day July 27. The aim of conference was to determine the future course of action that the Akalis led by Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who control the Amritsar-head quartered Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), would put pressure Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda to retrace his steps.
Following the directive of Akal Takhat SAD has canceled the Panthak Conference of July 27,2014.
