Chohla Sahib (Tarn Taran), December 11, 2014: Denmark, Canada and New Zealand recorded victories in the historical and religious town of Chohla Sahib here today that played host to four matches of Fifth Kabaddi World Cup 2014 today. Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal was the chief guest on the occasion while Member of Parliament Mr Ranjit Singh Brahmpura was the guest of honour. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Virsa Singh Valtoha, Mr Harmit Singh Sandhu, both Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Former MP Mr Rajmohinder Singh Majithia, MLA Mr Manjit Singh Manna, MLA Mr Baljit Singh Jalalusma, chairman, district planning board Tarn Taran Mr Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Deputy Commissioner Mr Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Director (Sports) Mr Tajinder Singh Dhaliwal, Hockey Olympian and DSP Mr Jugraj Singh, Mr Gurpartap Singh Khushhalpur, besides several others. MATCH 1: MEN SECTION: DENMARK DEFEAT SWEDEN 45-42. In the first match of the day of men section, the Denmark team defeated Sweden by 45-42. By half time, the score was tied 21-21, but it were the Denmark team which emerged victorious in the end. For Denmark, raiders Christian scored 13 points, Fredric scored 9 and stopper Simon scored 5 points. For Sweden, Raiders Parminder and Mandeep scored 15 points each, while stopper Ajaydeep scored 7 points. MATCH 2: MEN SECTION: CANADA DEFEAT ARGENTINA 59-22: In second match of men section, the Canadians defeated Argentina by a big margin of 59-22. Canadian raiders Vicky Ghotra scored 17 points, Gurpreet scoored 13 points while stoppers Kulwinder Samra and Varinder scored 6 and 5 points respectively. For Argentina, Namuel and Bruno Alberto scored 7 and 8 points respectively. MATCH 3: WOMEN SECTION: NEW ZEALAND DEFEAT PAKISTAN 38-30: The New Zealand team emerged as crowd favourites as they defeated Pakistan by 38-30 today. By Half time, the score was tied between the teams as 17-17. New Zealand raiders Elizabeth Motu scored 13 and Lani scored 10 points and stopper Sariya scored 5 points. Pakistan raider Madeeha Latif scored 13 points and Nida scored 7 points while stopper Sumaira scored 5 and Ruksan scored 1. MATCH 4: PAKISTAN DEFEAT ENGLAND BY 58-31: The Pakistan team defeated its opponents England by 58-31. By half time, the Pakistan team was leading by 31-11. Pakistan raiders Hussain scored 12, Rehman 10 and stoppers Ramzan scored 5 and Janjua scored 2 points. While England raiders Jaskaran scored 11, Ranjit scored 10 and stoppers Baljit scored 1 point for his team.
