Chandigarh March 16, 2015: According to the election schedule for Dhuri by poll, the nomination process would begin from tomorrow till March 24. A spokesperson of the CEO, Punjab today said that Nomination papers are to be filed with the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dhuri who is the Returning Officer for 107-Dhuri Assembly Constituency, between the hours of 11 O’clock in the forenoon and 3 O’clock in the afternoon on any day other than a public holiday from 17th March, 2015 to 24th March, 2015. He said that nominations papers are to be filed in form 2B Blank forms are available with the District Election Officer/Returning Officer. Typed nomination papers will also be accepted provided they are in the prescribed format. He also said that In order to qualify for a Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) seat, a candidate should be registered as an elector for any Assembly Constituency in that State. To satisfy the concerned Returning Officer on this point, candidates should produce a certified copy of the relevant entry of the electoral roll in force. He made it clear that 21st March, 2015 being a Saturday is not a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881; therefore, nomination papers can be presented to the Returning Officer on that day. The spokesman has also said that 22nd March, 2015 being a Sunday is a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881; therefore, nomination papers cannot be presented to the Returning Officer on that day. On 23rd March, 2015 being a Martyrdom Day S. Bhagat Singh Ji is not a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881; therefore, nomination papers can be presented to the Returning Officer on that day.
