New Delhi, April 11, 2015: India and France have agreed to intensify their cooperation on counter terrorism including information and intelligence sharing. In a joint statement after bilateral talks between the two countries in Paris Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande referred to their common desire to tackle terrorism and promote security. Media reports that on climate change, the statement said the two leaders underlined the importance of joint research and popularization of clean energy. On Railways, both the countries agreed to explore semi high speech project on up gradation of Delhi-Chandigarh line to 200 km per hour. India has agreed to buy 36 multi-role Combat Aircraft in a fly-away condition as quickly as possible. The two countries also agreed on setting up of six units of nuclear power plants totaling 1650 mega watt at Jaitapur in Maharasthra. Meanwhile, Mr Modi today visited the high-tech manufacturing facilities of aviation major, Airbus in Toulouse, about 700 km North of capital Paris. He inspected the assembly process of the Arbus A-380, one of the large commercial aircrafts. Mr Modi also interacted with the representatives of Indian companies who are suppliers to Airbus. In an exclusive interview with AIR correspondent Rajeev Jain, the executive vice president of Airbus, Charles Champion said that at present, Airbus outsources about 400 million dollars worth of items from 35 Indian companies and it is likely to go up further in near future. The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit, CNES headquarters, the space agency of France in a short while from now. India and France are celebrating fifty years of Space Co-operation. Later in the day, the Prime Minister will visit a memorial of the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives at Nouve-chapelle about 200 kms north of Paris. Nearly ten thousand Indian soldiers were killed during the First World War defending France. Prime Minister will also attend a reception hosted by Indian community in Paris in the evening.
