Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) today announced that
No Hike for any category of consumers.
Power tariff for domestic,non-residential consumers and bulk supply consumers will remain the same .
The Commission did not raise the power tariff for Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
The regulator slashed tariff rates for industrial consumers for financial year 2016-17.
For the industrial users, the rate for small power, medium supply and large supply was slashed by 38 paise, 36 paise and 11 paise respectively.
The regulator has also decided to reduce tariff for various industrial categories.
There will be no change in the tariff for other categories, PSERC chairman D S Brains said.
For a second consecutive year, the power tariff for the year 2016-17 has been left unchanged.
Some more concessions for consumers have also been announced. There is some relief for marriage palaces which will now pay annual minimum charges rather than monthly minimum charges; quicker release of connections; early restoration of supply and faster replacement of defective meters; procedures to be simplified for release of new connections; and penalty for deficiency in service enhanced ten times.
The power subsidy bill of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited will increase from Rs 5,600 crore last fiscal to Rs 6,364 crore this year.
