Ferozepur, July 27, 2016: In a meeting of old timer’s visually impaired persons, under the banner of Welfare Association for Visually Challenged Employees was held today presided over by Kashmiri Lal, Retd. Head Master,Home for the Blind at his residence, condemned the forcible taking possession of Tulsi Ram Ashram building presently under the control of Home for the Blinds, on July 22, was condemned and thanked Davinder Bajaj, District President, BJP and present on the occasion Municipal Councilors and local citizens.
The meeting was attended by Kashmiri Lal Sharma, Gopal Kishan Kajushal, former President, Rashtri Drishtiheen Sangh Punjab, Anil Gupta, former General Secretary, Netarheen Karamchari Sangh Punjab and Narsh Pal, former General Secretary Raashtri Netarheen Sangarsh Samiti, Patiala.
Presently, 12 inmates are residing for the last more than five decades and four-walling of certain portion of the Ashram by some anti-social and unscrupulous persons under the influence of Toni Sareen a grandson of one of the Trustees, was foiled and matter was reported to the police and district administration.
In a release to the press, a concern was also expressed over non-implementation of one per cent reservation for visually impaired persons while filling up the vacant posts.
Anil Gupta said, the glaring example is of recent recruitment of 14 posts in Transport Department where the candidates for only 5 posts were called when 14 posts are lying vacant for blinds in the roaster.
Likewise, he said, in education department, after issuing the advertisement for 105 posts, a decision was taken to issue appointment to only 88 candidates, he added.
In the meeting, it was demanded that such type of irregularities should be checked and stopped failing which the visually impaired persons will be compelled to resort to agitation.
