Ferozepur, August 13, 2016: With the finding of a live bomb was found just two days before the Independence Day celebrations from Mana Singh Wala village near Ferozepur from a dry minor - Sappanwali 12 KMs from here, there was a terror like situation in the village and surrounding areas.
Giving the information, the Baljit Singh villager said, few days back, there has been a breach in the canal of village Mana Singh Wala and the adjoining fields were flooded with water and flow of water in this canal was suspended for some time. After two days, a farmer noticed a big iron rod like substance in the field looks like a bomb and informed to the army and police officials.
The working actively the army officials arranged the anti-bomb Squad Team, headed by ATH Man Singh, stacked the sand bags around the bomb M-30 ARTY type and around noon, diffused it successfully in the agriculture fields averting the major disaster.
The power of the bomb can be judged from the sound and depth of the hole it caused. It was such aloud sound of the explosion that it could be heard at the distance of two kilometers even. The blast of the bomb caused 8/10 ft deep hole in the land
Army official on the spot informed that this live bomb quite old with rust was useable in M-30 gun and investigating as to how this has come here in the field and from where.
According to the SHO police it had initiated the investigations and still no conclusion had been made about the bomb. SHO Avtar Singh said that as it was an old bomb, and it was possible that someone may have found it from the army exercise area and brought here.
