Mansa: 23 October, 2016: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma today took a round of Grain Markets with a view to taking stock of ongoing paddy procurement by interacting with farmers, arthiyas, representatives of labour organizations etc.
Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing process Varinder Sharma said that the procurement was going in a good pace besides asking the authorities concerned to expedite the lifting now. He also asked the procurement agencies to procure the paddy within the approved moistures standards. The Deputy Commissioner also extend an appeal to farmers of the district for bringing only dry and clean crop to mandi's to avoid any inconveniences.
Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the farmers of different villages in both grain markets and asked them about problem, if any, being faced in mandis.
Answering a query regarding procurement, lifting and arrangements in grain markets, Deputy Commissioner informed that adequate arrangements had also been made in the mandis besides basic amenities for farmers. He said 158019 metric tonne of paddy has been procured in the district out of 174616 metric ton arrival. We have made payments above 85% in the district added Varinder. (APS Brar 9814313405)
