Chandigarh, October 25, 2016: Today SP, CBI appeared in Court and filed its status report and informed Court about the investigation regarding the witness Narinder Singh whose contact details were shared by the Counsel for Complainant. The CBI informed the Court that they contacted Narinder Singh on the phone number shared by the Complainant counsel and also informed that Narinder Singh is refusing to come to India for investigation. CBI sought four months time to complete investigation.
Mr. H S Phoolka further brought to the notice of the Court that CBI is misleading court by making wrong statement as on last date of hearing CBIsaid the phone number of Narinder Singh is not working and he is not traceable but media contacted him on same number and he stated that he is willing to join investigation.
The Court further asked CBI about the information from Canadian government; CBI informed the court that they approached the Canadian government to obtain that information. The Court also asked the Counsel for Complainant for the kind of assistance that can be provided by them to CBI. Mr. Phoolka informed the Court that during his visit to Canada, he visited the office of Canadian Prime Minister to seek their assistance in providing the information. Mr. Phoolka was assured that the Canadian government is serious about the punishment to the guilty of Nov’84 Carnage and will fully cooperate with CBI. Mr. Phoolka made a request to Court to kindly direct CBI to endorse a letter to them on what all information they require so that they can contact Canadian government.
The Court has now directed CBI to file its final report within four months and fixed the next date of hearing i.e. 16th February 2017.
