Ludhiana, 26 October 2016: The beautification of all the major roads of the city is going to be completed by Diwali as the MC officials have increased the pace of the ongoing work. The beautification of roads was planned by MC Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori'. He has directed the MC officials to beautify all the major roads on which work like painting of central verges, installation of cat eyes, pasting of thermoplastic lines, installation of iron grills, repair and painting of the broken flower pots etc were to be included. Apart from this, decision was also taken to start work on beautification of the entry points of the city.
The MCL has started this beautification work on the roads like Hambran Road, Kaka Marriage Palace Road, Ferozepur Road, Gill Road, Dugri Road, Link Road, Malhar Road, Ishmeet Road, Pakhowal Road, Old GT Road from Sherpur Chowk to Jagraon Bridge and Old GT Road from Jagraon Bridge to Ambedkar Chowk (including elevated road). Whereas at most of the roads the pasting of thermoplastic paint and painting of the central verges is near completion even the installation of the missing cat eyes would also get completed within this week.
Along with this, MCL is also doing the construction of central verge from Dholewal Chowk to Vishvakarma Chowk. The replacement of broken grills (and paintwork) at the bus stand road and painting of flower pots on the bus stand flyover has been done. The Ludhiana smart city structure that has been installed at the Ambedkar Chowk is also ready for the inauguration as a few tiny works are left and it would be inaugurated as soon as the works will get completion.
MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that at Diwali there is tradition to paint and clean the houses and since condition of major roads represent city they have started painting and cleaning on these roads which would be completed before Diwali. He claimed that by Diwali two major chowks Sherpur Chowk and Ambedkar Chowk will also be inaugurated as the beautification work is almost near completion. (APS Brar)
