Fatehabad, February 18, 2017: The Haryana BJP President, Subhash Barala, has said that the state government is sympathetically considering the demands made by the Jat community. Discussions have been held between the committee of senior officers constituted by the state government and representatives of the Jat community and action has already been initiated on some of the demands.
Interacting with media persons at Fatehabad today, he said that so far mainly two demands had been made. These are providing employment to dependants of those who lost their lives during the agitation last year, and withdrawal of the cases registered during the agitation. The process for providing employment to dependants of the deceased has already been set in motion and jobs have been provided to some persons.
The committee of officers would soon hold the second phase of talks with representatives of the Jat community. Brainstorming is being done on various other demands, and the state government would meet all the genuine demands of the agitating leaders in accordance with law and in keeping with the Constitution.
Barala said at the meeting held between the state government and representatives of the agitators, the latter had praised the government for getting the reservation bill passed in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha whereas the previous governments had only misled the Jat community.
Asked about the statements of the opposition regarding differences among the ministers on the issue of reservation to Jats, Mr Barala said had had the ministers not being united, the reservation bill would not have been passed in the Vidhan Sabha.
It is the social and political responsibility of the state government to maintain peace and law and order in the state and all efforts are being made in this direction. The state government is geared up to meet any situation and the Central Government is also providing full cooperation, he added. .
Barala said he had visited the Dhani Chaupal Chowk to meet the people sitting in dharna and apprised them about the measures being taken by the state government. He told them that the doors of the state government were always open for talks.
