Indiana, March 29, 2017: A Sikh doctor working here received a death threat from an anonymous caller. The matter has been reported to the police.
Dr Amandeep Singh was reportedly texted by an unknown person who threatened the doctor that he was his next target. The caller claimed to have murdered the previous owner of the phone.
After the matter was reported, the police established the previous owner was alive and the number was hacked.
The police is reportedly treating the case as a racially motivated. The doctor is a medical graduate from India and has been working in the US since 2003.
US based Chairman SikhsPAC, Gurinder Singh Khalsa said this was one of the several similar threats against the Sikhs in Indiana.
Khalsa said they have received reports of vandalism and intimidation from a number of Sikh business people. His organization has taken up the increasing number of cases of harassment and violence against the Sikhs with Indiana authorities.
