Ludhiana, April 25, 2017: The campaign Beti Padao Beti Bachao started by government of India has started yielding results. In Ludhiana the sex ratio of girls was increased as compared to previous years.
Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Agarwal said that 53 girls were increased in sex ratio in 2016-17 as compared to the sex ratio in 2015-2016. Earlier the sex ratio of girls was 881 and now it was 934 after thousand males.
In 2016-19 the total 48529 were born in different hospitals of Ludhiana and out of total 25095 were male child and 23434 girl child. In 20215-16 the number of male child was 25723 and girl child were 22662 out of total 48385 born childrens.
He said that the awareness campaigns and drives by various departments were the result of increase in sex ratio.
The campaign was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in districts having less sex ratio. The aim was give equal status to girls in society after providing them education.
DC said that the parents should treat the girl child as equal to male child. In today’s era the girls are equal to males in every field and society.
