Bathinda, April 26, 2017: The Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Mr Diprava Lakra today conducted a meeting with the farmers and members of self help groups at the DC meeting hall in District Administrative Complex. During the meeting, he motivated farmers to adopt agri allied businesses to supplement their farm income such as bee keeping, cultivation of vegetables and mushroom, dairy farming etc.
He said that the small and medium farmers should adopt the agri allied businesses. The allied business not only supplements farm income but also ensures optimum use of existing resources. The potato growers said that Bathinda belt is well known for roaring potato production and the same can also be used as a food for the dairy animals.
The members of different SHGs told Deputy Commissioner that they require land to set up their business. To this the Deputy Commissioner assured that he would write to government seeking help for the same. The vegetable growers too shared their tips with the gathering.
The ADC (G) Mr Rahul Chaba, Chief Agriculture Officer Mr Jagtar Singh Brar, farmers Jagtar Singh, Harjit Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Amarjit Singh, Jagsir Singh, Jaspal Singh Gill, Jarnail Singh Brar, Iqbal Singh, Prem Singh, Attarpal Singh, Resham Singh, Deputy Singh, Jaspal Singh, Hartej Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Rajinderpal Singh, Darshan Singh Sidhu, Gurcharan Singh Mann, Bhupinder Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Balwinder Singh and Nirbhai Singh were also present. Besides this women namely Shehnaz, Yadwinder Kaur, Prabhjot Kaur etc from different SHGs were also present.
