Ludhiana, April 26, 2017: Those industrialists, traders or service providers who fail to convert from VAT/Service Tax to GST will not be allowed to work from July 1 onwards.
Commissioner Central Excise and Service Tax Naresh Penumaka told this to a delegation of FICO which met him on Wednesday under the leadership of its president Gurmit Kular on the issue of conversion from VAT to new GST regime.
Commissioner, Penumaka made it amply clear that in absence of conversion to GST, the industrialists, traders, service providers can neither claim for Input Tax Credit nor will they be able to generate any bill July 1, 2017, informed FICO general secretary Manjinder Singh Sachdeva.
He informed the delegation that mobile vans were operational in the city to help people convert to GST. Those interested can also register themselves at their respective Central Excise and Service Tax office.
Kular highlighted that although GST Act has been notified but there was no clarification on rates of taxes applicable. He requested the Commissioner to notify the rates of GST.
