Congress launches own Rs 10-food facility in Ludhiana; flags off Mobile Food Van

Ludhiana, May 25, 2017: Ludhiana too has started providing food for Rs 10 to the needy ones on the lines of other districts but with a difference.
Instead of opening a fixed outlet like elsewhere in the state, the almost free food facility will be provided at the doorsteps of the needy ones through a Mobile Food Van.
It's Congress party's very own initiative in the entire state. A brainchild of Ludhiana MLA Rakesh Pandey, it has been started without involvement of the district administration unlike in other districts.
Already Ludhiana district administration has set up a separate such Rs 10-food facility from fixed counter in CMC Hospital area in the city.
MLA Rakesh Pandey formally flagged off the van from Deep Nagar in Ward number 29 of his Assembly constituency Ludhiana North on Thursday.
The van, with capacity to cater to 200 persons, will move in every ward of the constituency twice a day in afternoon and night. “We will try to lower the rate even further with the philanthropic contributions from public,” said Pandey.
Probably the most significant feature is the community's participation in this venture. Pandey acknowledged efforts of the Ludhiana district Congress vice-president Parveen Soni Bakshi, his associates and people of the constituency for the purpose.
The Congress party had in its poll manifesto promised to start this facility.
Ludhiana being the largest city of the state, opening of another facility is a welcome step as it makes this concept of this highly affordable food facility more meaningful in terms of its benefit reaching larger section of targeted people.
