Manjinder Singh Sirsa
New Delhi/Chandigarh, May 27, 2017: The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary and the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today appealed to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take strictest possible action against the guilty security officials who had asked a sikh member to remove his Kirpan and Turban for meeting the Chief Minister.
In a letter written to the UP Chief Minister, Mr. Sirsa pointed out that one Tejpal Singh resident of Gurdwara locality Lucknow had came to meet him (Yogi Adityanath) during his meet the public program at Gorakshnath Peeth on Thursday May 25, 2017. He said that when the member of the sikh community was about to enter the premises to meet the Chief Minister, security officials deputed on place asked him to remove his Kirpan and Turban which are articles of faith asked to keep by sikh Guru Sahiban.
He said that Tejpal Singh not only refused to comply with the directive of the security officials but also brought the matter before the Chief Minister who himself came out with him to see the guilty police officials.
Mr. Sirsa said that it has come to our notice that the guilty security officials had slipped away by the time but Tejpal Singh had identified these persons. He said that it was most unfortunate that this type of incident has happened for the first time in Gorakhpur after the 1984 anti sikh riots.
He said that though the Chief Minister himself has assured to take action in the case, the DSGMC has appealed the CM to award exemplary punishment to the guilty security officials so that in future these type of incidents do no happen.
The DSGMC General Secretary also thanked the UP CM for his feelings towards a Sikh Member who is Minority Member in India and also thanked him for always appreciating the struggle and sacrifice of the Sikh Community in India openly and repeatedly narrating the incident of sacrifice of Four Sahibzadas of tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji and even advocating celebration of Children Day in their name.
