Funeral of Iqbal Ramoowalia on June 25 at Brampton
Brampton, June 24, 2017: The funeral of Canada-based Punjabi writer Iqbal Ramoowalia, who had passes away on June 17, will be held on Sunday, June 25 at Brampton Crematorium and Visitation Centre.
This was conveyed by his brother Rachpal Ramoowalia.

Iqbal was a loving, doting, affectionate, and playful husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed a teaching career for 26 years. His infinite and infectious optimism, positivity, and charm lit up the lives of people who knew him. As a well-respected and loved community member, he devoted much of his time guiding people in their endeavors, taking great joy, fulfilment, and pride in watching people succeed.
A progressive and rationalist thinker, Iqbal was a man of principles, dignity, and honour who boldly challenged the status quo, sided with justice at all costs and won over thousands of admirers all over the world. Iqbal was also a highly accomplished, regarded and admired poet and writer who released dozens of publications and novels in both Punjabi and English, with some novels pending publication.
He was a passionate music enthusiast who had been singing and playing traditional Punjabi instruments since he was a teenager. He released a full-length Punjabi album with his brother, Rachhpal Gill.
His bright, playful and positive nature wasn't hindered by his illness, and he was joking and laughing even during his last days. He died peacefully surrounded by his wife Sukhsagar, twin daughters, Sukhi and Kinnu, brother Rachhpal, sisters Charanjit and Karamjit, nephew Navraj, and sons-in-law Declan and Greg.
