Tributes paid to Ajmer Aulakh, writers, people turn up in large number
Mansa, June 25, 2017: A large gathering of writers and common people on Sunday turned up to pay tributes to noted Punjab playwright Ajmer Aulakh who passed away recently.
At a function organized at local grain market here, the members of cultural, writers, trade organizations, prominent political leaders and common people paid tributes to the departed hero of the Punjabi theatre who authored and directed widely acclaimed plays highlighting the life of the lower rung Punjabi farmers and the rural downtrodden.
Deputy Commissioner, Mansa, Dharam Pal Gupta and SDM, Mansa Lateef Ahmed also paid floral tributes to Aulakh.
Revolutionary plays and poetry were presented on the occasion.
Besides the family members of Aulakh, among the prominent personalities present on the occasion included the president of Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Dr Sarabjit Singh, general secretary Karan Singh, vice-president Inderpreet Singh, Jaspal Mankhera, secretary Dr. Ravinder (Sirsa), Pargat Singh Sidhu, prominent theatre personality Kewal Dhaliwal, Hadeep Dhillon, Atma Ram Dhanjal, president international literary and cultural manch, Bathinda Paramvir Singh, president Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Sirsa Parmanand Sashtri, journalist Gurmeet Singh, president Sahit Aacdemy Punjab Dr Sarabjit Kaur Sohal, Dr Gulzar Pandher, Surinder Kailey, Dalbir Singh Ludhianvi, playwright Dr Sahib Singh and scores of local political leaders and representatives of the trade unions.
