Ferozepur, July 17, 2017: Today, CPI(M) and Border Area Sangharsh Committee protested against reporting of manipulated injuries in the medico legal reports – MLRs - making easy for the police to register cases under Section 326 of IPC.
The protest was led by Kuldip Singh Khungar, District Secretary, CPI and Comrade Hansa Singh State General Secreary, Border Area Sangharsh Committee with participation of farmers, labourers and common man from the villages – Hazara Singh Wala, Midha, Kothe Kili and Kalu Arai.
They shouted slogans against the health department and said a gang of doctors and class four employees is working in the civil hospital for preparing the false reports enabling the police to register cases under Section 326 of IPC - Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means. The medical board is constituted at their own and the connivance of Civil Surgeon and SMO cannot be ruled out.
Giving a reference to today’s protest, they said, there was a dispute between Harbans Singh and Amrik Singh and a case was got registered against the rival party by securing the false medico legal report – MLR against Harbans Singh and others.
When a protest was lodged with the deputy commissioner by Harbans Singh and others, the Civil Surgeon a board was constituted on July 4 but no action has been taken so far, they added.
Demanding action against the false preparation of MLRs gang in the civil hospital, the protesters demanded from that in case no action to amend the MLR is taken, they will against sit on dharna on July 19.
On the other hand, when SMO Pardeep Aggarwal was contacted, he said, the medico legal reports – MLRs – are prepared on the basis of actual examination of the victim/patient, by the medical board and there is no manipulation of injuries to implicate people irrespective of any group in criminal cases as alleged by the protesters.
In this particular case, he said, Dr.Rekha had made the report and after registration of case, the same is under investigation with the SP(D) and health department has nothing to do now. In case any further opinion is required on the already submitted report, the police should made a request to the health department and produce the injured person for getting a second opinion by referring the case to another medical board.
He said, this was also made clear to a deputation of the protesters on approaching him in this case.
