Hoshiarpur: July 21(APS Brar) Punjab government will be giving Rs. 8000 monthly financial aid to the acid attack victims. To lend this helping hand to the victims, the aid will be given under The Punjab Financial Assistance to Acid victims Scheme 2017 and a District Level Committee for the same has been formulated.
Divulging more details here today, the Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujwal stated that the main aim of scheme was to provide acid attack victims financial help so that they can lead lives respectfully after the acid attack incidence.
He said that Civil Surgeon, District Social Security Officer, District Program Officer (woman and child development) will be included in this committee. Besides this, the committee will include two experts on criminal law (of which at least one should be woman) and members of acid attack victims.
Vipul Ujwal added that the acid attack victim should be a resident of Punjab. To avail financial help under this scheme, the victim will have to apply herself. If she has been rendered handicapped due to the acid attack and cannot file the application herself, her guardian or kin or relatives can file application with respective District Social Security Officer. He added that with application, there should also be a medical certificate mentioning that victim has been rendered handicapped due to acid attack. The applicant will also have to attach copy of FIR or complaint lodged about the incidence.
Besides this the applicant should attach attested copies of either of the documents from voter list, voter I card, Aadhar card, passport, driving licence and resident certificate. Details of the applicant’s bank account should also be attached with application. He said that within a month, after the application is given to District Social Security Officer, the case should be settled. He said contact with mobile no.
