Ban on use of old technique combine harvesters in Bathinda
Bathinda, July 2, 2017: The district administration has banned use of old technique combine harvesters for harvesting paddy.
Instead it has made mandatory installation of Super Straw Management System that is Super SMS system as per the recommendations of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).
Issuing ban orders today, the Additional District Magistrate, Dr Shena Aggarwal stated that government imposed complete ban on usage of old technique harvesters.
On the basis of orders of Supreme Court, National Green Tribunal, Delhi High Court and other courts in context to burning of paddy and wheat residue, the Punjab government had directed the PAU to look for healthier harvesting options.
The PAU recommended Super SMS technology, which can be attached to the self-propelled combine harvesters. It cuts paddy straw coming out of harvester combine into small pieces as well as spreads the same.
It wipes off need to set the stubble on fire and the farmers can easily sow another crop on it. This will save farmers' extra efforts on time and money.
