Jalandhar, July 22, 2017: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jalandhar Mr. Gurmeet Singh Multani said that all the departments must implement Right to Information Act (RTI) in its true spirits by providing the information in time.
Addressing the officials of the various departments here at Regional Centre of Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that inordinate delay to adhere to timeline as specified in RTI Act-2005 must be avoided. He said that every officer was duty-bound to implement this Act in the right earnest to facilitate the people. Mr. Multani said that the officials must maintain the record of all the applications and fee received from the applicants on prescribed Performa.
Lauding the MGSIPA authorities for organizing this workshop, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that this endeavor would go a long way in helping the officials to further have a deep understanding about the provisions of the Act. He said that this would further help the officials to perform their duty diligently and in far more professional manner. Mr. Multani also underscored the need for organizing more such workshops to enable the officials to aptly deal with the applications received under the RTI Act.
In his address General Manager/ Administration MGSIPA Mr. SK Joshi while welcoming the Chief Guest said that this workshop was aimed at enhancing the professional capability of the officials dealing with the subject besides updating them about this subject of immense importance.
On the occasion RTI experts including Mr. YV Rishi, Mr. DarshanSingh and Mr. SK Sonik Advocate sensitized the officers/ officials regarding salient features of the RTI Act, 2005.
During the valedictory function Additional Deputy Commissioner and Mr. Joshi also distributed the certificates to the participants.
