Chandigarh, July 23, 2017: Professor P.S. Jaiswal, presently Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Chandigarh, Professor Nishtha Jaiswal, Professor V.K. Bansal, were honoured by the students who had studied law 1991-1994 and are now well established in their fields of around 50 law graduates met at the reunion held at J.W. Marriott, Sector 35, Chandigarh on Sunday afternoon on an initiative by Vikas Chatrath, Advocate practising in the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.
These 50 law graduate of the batch assembled for the alumni meet convened, at the Hotel. All of them were naturally happy and excited meet each other. Vikas Chatrath formally introduced them and thanked their professors for guiding them and they all shared their professional accomplishments after passing completing LLB. Everybody acknowledged the contribution of their professors.
Those present on the occasion were excited to know that at least four of their batch mates, Jagdeep Kaur, Sangeeta, Mahavir Singh and Arun Kumar Aggarwal have now become Additional District and Session Judges. Presently Mahavir Singh is Secretary, Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh, Rashmi Khurana, another batch mate is working as Dean in Geeta Institute of Law, a premier law institute of Haryana. Lakhbir Singh, ADC City-II, Amritsar especially came. Barjinder Singh, Former Chairman, Punjab Health System Corporation was excited to meet his batch mates after around 23 years.
Subhash Chander, who has a law firm in Canada, also reached to attend the meet and extended that the next meet should be held in Canada. Baljit Singh and Manjit Kaur, trained mediators & Advocates in the District Court came.
Pardeep Kulshrestra, Company Secretary said that coming from Gurgaon and meeting old friends gives you a new spirit. Harpreet Kaur, Teacher in YPS Mohali said that the meet rekindled the memories of the University.
Justice B.S. Walia, Judge, Jammu and Kashmir High Court and Justice Jai Shree Thakur, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court had also been invited but they could not attend the same. Justice B.S. Walia wished the alumini all the best for future life. Their wishes encouraged the alumini and are looking forward to meet them.
Vikas Chatrath informed that this was the 4th meet of the Batch and they are planning to work together for social causes and would decide accordingly in this direction.
