Indian eves lose, England lifts World Cricket Cup
England defeated India in the final of the ICC World Cricket Cup by nine runs in the final match played at historic ground The Lords.
This is Indian women cricket team’s second defeat in the World Cup finals.
Batting first England set a target of 229 runs. The Indian team was back in the pavilion at the score of 219 runs.
Poonam Raut hit 86 runs whereas Harmanpreet Kaur was out for 51 runs. Both steadied the Indian innings well with a long partnership.
The lack of big match temperament was India’s undoing as its batswomen got out regularly despite the target looking achievable.
