When UP BJP Minister Baldev Aulakh could not sing ‘Vande Mataram’
New Delhi, August 12, 2017 :
Uttar Pradesh BJP minister Baldev Singh Aulkah faced a highly embarrassing situation when he failed to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ on a national TV Channel.
Aulkah, who is Minister of State for Minorities Welfare, was participating in a debate on India Today’s show Newsroom on the issue of making singing of Vande Mataram compulsory.
He wanted the Centre to make the singing of Vande Mataram mandatory in all schools in the country, however some ministers could not sing even one line of the National Song.
The minister, who vehemently asserted his party and government’s line on the issue wanted the Centre to make the singing of Vande Mataram mandatory in all schools in the country, cut a sorry figure when he failed to sing even a single line of the song on being repeatedly asked by the show’s anchor Rahul Kanwal.
BJP UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently commented that refusal to sing the song reflected narrow-mindedness of those opposed to it.
