New Delhi, August 12, 2017: In Uttar Pradesh, BRD Medial college Hospital Principal Dr Rajiv Misra has been suspended in the tragic death of children at the hospital for his alleged negligence in the duty.
Medical Education State Minister of Medical Education Ashutosh Tandon Gopal has announced it at Gorakhpur after taking stock of the situation at Gorakhpur.
Tandon also said that a high level Committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary of the State Rajeev Kumar has been set up to probe into the tragic incident.
Actions will be taken on the report of the higher level committee says Tandon. He said that supply of life saving item of oxygen should not be stopped and it is a serious matter.
Earlier Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh and Mr Tandon along with senior officials of the department reached Gorakhpur this morning to take stock of the situation at Hospital where 60 deaths of children are reported since August 7.
Media reports that after meeting with the officials of the districts and family members of the victims Health Minister and spokesperson of the State Government Sidharth Nath Singh said that no causality have been taken place due to paucity of the oxygen.
Health minister has said that the Chief Minister was not informed by the doctors and officials about shortage of oxygen neither on 9th July nor 9th August during his visits to the Hospital.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also said that cause of deaths of children is acute encephalitis not paucity of oxygen. Addressing a function at Allahabad Yogi said that only cleanliness drive can check the deaths of children.
A delegation of Congress leaders under leadership of leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad has also visited the hospital and met the victims’ families.
President of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also send a probe team of party legislature to Gorakhpur to investigate the matter.
