Bathinda, August 19, 2017: The vidhan sabha committee constituted to study farm suicide cases of farmers and farm labors, today visited ten villages of district Bathinda wherein they interacted with the families of deceased. The team that visited Bathinda included team's chairperson Mr Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, member Mr Nathu Ram, member Mr Nazar Singh Manshahia and member Mr Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra.
The team today visited village Malwala and Bhagwangarh of Talwandi Sabo constituency, villages Behman Diwana and Balluana from Bathinda (rural), villages Dan Singh Wala and Ganga Ablu fro, Bhucho Constituency, villages Mehraj Pattai Karam Chand and Patti Kala from Rampura Constituency and village Gill Kalan and Mandi Kalan from Maur Constituency and interacted with the bereaved families.
Talking to the media persons the chairperson of committee Mr Sarkaria stated that the team will visit each and every district of state and table its report before vidhan sabha by the end of November. He added that the main motive of this visit was to meet the families of farmers and farm labors, who had committed suicide, and know the economic and other causes behind the step victims had taken. He said that the district administration has been given forms. The administration will get these forms filled from families of the farmers and labors who committed suicide after 2007 and submit the same to team within 20 days.
Accompanying the team were Secretary Revenue Department, Government of Punjab, Mr S Karuna Raju, DC Bathinda Mr Diprava Lakra, SDM Bathinda Mrs Sakshi Sawhney, SDM Talwandi Sabo Mr Varinder Singh, SDM Rampura Mr Subhash Khatak and others.
