Fazilka, August 19, 2017: The Fazilka police today made major haul of drugs with an aim to make Punjab drug-free with the arrest of four persons at three different locations under NDPS Act and recovery of pistol and drugs.
Dr.Ketan Baliram, SSP said in three different cases, four persons have been booked under NDPS Act.
Divulging with the details, he said, on August 17, during the routing patrolling, two drug peddler – Arvinder Singh alias Veeru and Gurmukh Singh resident of village Nawan Killa falling under Lakho Ke Behram in District Ferozepur were arrested on suspicion and 12 kg opium was recovered from their possession. The police has got police remand up to August 24.
In another case, on a tip-off, Gurmit Singh of village Pank was arrested from Malout Road Fazilka with recovery one country made pistol, 4 live cartrides 315 bore and 8 strips of 80 taabes of Almax 0.5.
In the third case, during the vehile checking on August 18, on getting a secret information, Jasdeep Singh alias Happy of Seed Farm Kachha was arrested at the nakabadi with recovery of one country made pistol 315 bore, two live cartridges which was given to him by Gurpreet Singh alias Nikka of Patti Sadiq about 8-10 days back.
On the basis of preliminary inquiry, all the four have been booked under Arms Act and NDPS Act and further investigations are on and more important issues are likely to come on surface through the interrogation of the arrested accused under NDPS Act.
