Fatehgarh Sahib, September 12, 2017: The district police claimed to have solved the five year old blind murder of the watchman of the then district planning board chairman, which was filed as untraced in the court with the arrest of two accused. Both the accused have confessed their crime, where as their third accomplice is at large.
Addressing the media persons here today Alka Meena SSP said that during the scrutiny of the old heinous crimes untraced cases, she find that the case related to the murder of Ram Bahadur watchman at the residence of the then district planning board chairman Joginder Pal Singla held in Mandi Gobindgarh in 2012 was filed as untraced in the court in 2013. She deputed a special team led by Daljit Singh Rana SP( Detective) and CIA inspector Harminder Singh to work on this case as prima facie it looks as it was not properly investigated.
She said the police put their sources and ultimately succeeded in narrowing at two suspected murderers and during their interrogation they revealed the truth.
Giving the details, She said that police arrested Gopal Sharma and Sunny Kumar both residents of Mandi Gobindgarh they revealed that they had developed relations with Ram Bahadur and used to get information from him. They said Ram Bahadur told them that wife of Joginder Pal Singla is going abroad and the family believes him and the keys will be with him. SSP said both the accused entered the residence and tried to snatch keys from Ram Bahadur when he objected they murdered him with sharp weapon. They could get the keys of only main gate where as they were trying to break the inner doors, the dog started barking and they fled away.
SSP said that both the arrested have criminal back round and recently cases under Arms act have been registered against them by Khanna police and arrested them twice but they were not interrogated on particularly this case.
She said police is after their third accomplice who helped them to flee away.
Both the accused were presented in court and remanded in police custody.
