Chandigarh, September 18, 2017: Misappropriation of funds and the mischievous silence of the Congress Government over the investigation of the misuse of funds allocated for the Post Metric Scholarship was condemned in harsh words by the National Scheduled Castes Alliance today. Regarding this serious issue, a delegation of the Alliance would meet the National Scheduled Castes Commission at the New Delhi office on 19th September as this matter was crucial to the future and lives of thousands of Scheduled Castes Students in the State, told Paramjit Singh Kainth, President of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance.
Kainth said, “We have been constantly making the Government aware about the lapses and misuse of the funds in the scholarship from quite a long time now and the Government is least concerned over the irregularities in the schools, colleges and other technical education centres.”
Mr Kainth further asked the Captain Amrinder Singh led government to issue a white over the funds of the Post Metric Scholarship. He further stated that Social Welfare Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has since coming to power not done anything except giving tasteful speeches and appearing in news for his own publicity.
He also further said that the MPs and MLAs of the other political parties like Akali Dal BJP coalition and Aam Aadmi Party have also disappointed and failed the community. Since becoming representatives of the people, they have done nothing for the welfare of the community they represent.
Kainth urged the government to put forward the entire records of the past 10 years related to this Scholarship for the Scheduled Castes community. He urged for clarification and justification where the thousands of rupees which come every year from the Centre government are being spent. “Everything should be transparent and infront of the Public” Kainth said.
“Captain Amrinder Singh made a promise to the people of Punjab that these irregularities and the scams which have been associated with the plan will be investigated as soon as he came to power, but it’s been 6 months almost and there has not been any hint of seriousness on his part to get to a solution for this inefficiency of the Government. The previous government had tried to hide and sideline this issue and now the Congress government is looking incapable of investigating the misappropriation further.” Kainth said.
The meeting concluded with a positive note, hoping that Government would soon realize the importance of this issue and work honestly and effectively for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes community in Punjab and make this scheme successful.
