Chandigarh, September 20, 2017: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed a Sub Inspector, an Auditor and Revenue Patwari red handed while accepting bribes in three different cases.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Sub Inspector Bakhshish Singh posted at CIA Tarn Taran now in Police Line Tarn Taran was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 20000 from the complainant Dilbagh Singh of Machhike district Tarn Taran.
The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above accused has been demanding Rs. 55000 to give witness in his favour in the court in a case registered against him. He said that after persuasion the Sub Inspector has agreed to take Rs. 30000 for the same and Rs. 10000 had already been paid in advance as a bribe.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused sub inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Amritsar and further investigation was under progress. The spokesperson said that accused SI has also been booked u/s 186 and 353 IPC for obstructing public servant from doing his lawful duty.
In another bribery case, the spokesperson said Sukhmandar Singh, Auditor posted in the office of Examiner Local Funds Accounts, Punjab, Chandigarh was nabbed red handed by Vigilance team for accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 from complainant Tirath Singh of village Dhanna Shaheed, Tehsil Zira in Ferozepur district.
The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused Auditor was demanding Rs. 10,000 for the settlement of audit objection for withdrawing the amount in the account of Panchayat Samiti Ghall Khurd, block Zira, Ferozepur district.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Auditor was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In another bribery case, Gurinderpal Singh Patwari posted at Bahav Wala, Tehsil Abhohar in Fazilka district was nabbed red handed by Vigilance team for accepting bribe of Rs. 4000 from complainant Kuldeep Singh of Bahav Wala, Tehsil Abhohar, Fazilka district.
The Complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused Patwari was demanding Rs. 4000 for helping him to favour him while submitting the report regarding auction of his land by the court.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Patwari was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses
He informed that two cases under Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigations were under progress.
