Mohali hotel owner ‘repentant’ for killing NRI wife

Mohali, October 18, 2017: Nirankar Singh (60), the Mohali hotelier, who killed his NRI wife in a fit of rage on Wednesday, is said to be 'repentant' for the crime committed by him.
This was disclosed by SHO, Police Station, Phase-11, Amarpreet Singh after arresting the accused husband of Kulwant Kaur (58).
The accused, who is the owner of the well-known hotel Sarao located in Phase-10, Mohali, did not try to escape after committing the crime. Instead he lay down on the ground and was arrested by the police.
The revolver with which he shot his wife to death was a licensed one. The police, however, are probing the incident from different angles.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had returned from England. Both wanted to live separately and a civil suit for separation was pending at a Mohali court.
The accused was said to be under pressure allegedly from his wife's side to sell the hotel and settle in England.
