Appeals to residents to assist district administration in social works
Barnala, October 18, 2017: It is a matter of great pride as Barnala city is now free from stray cattle. With the continuous efforts of the District Administration, more than 95 percent of stray cattle has already been shifted to the government run Gaushala in village Manal, near here. While providing details, Deputy Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori stated that the District Administration Barnala felt the need to check stray cattle menace in the city as it led to several accidents, besides, sometimes even the stray cattle got seriously injured in accidents.
He said that the District Level Gaushala at village Manal has been upgraded with a new cattle pond and shed and ever since this comprehensive drive started, more than 850 stray cattle have been shifted there.
He informed that the District Administration is committed to make Barnala city free of stray cattle and for that purpose, an aggressive campaign was carried out under which the stray cattle have been shifted to the Gaushala at village Manal. Mr Thori urged the managements of existing Gaushala's of the district as well as the city residents to assist them for this as well as all other noble causes. All the Panchayats of the District have been requested to not contribute towards stray cattle in the cities and on the highways. Panchayats should contribute in this effort by maintaining stray cattle in the villages.
On the other hand the Deputy Commissioner requested the residents, that considering the increase in number of cattle at Manal, the district administration would need the help of people to arrange cattle hay and feed for the animals. Any donors for this good cause could contact Lucky Kumar (Manager at Manal) at 8837772820.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Parveen Kumar appealed to the city residents that they should not feed the stray cattle at their doorstep or anywhere else in Barnala city. He said that people should instead visit the Gaushala's and feed the cattle there. He also urged them not to leave their pet animals outside their houses and if any person from other city indulges in such a practice, then they should bring it to the notice of District Administration.
