Appeals to residents to assist District Administration in keeping Barnala stray cattle free
Barnala, October 23, 2017: To check the inflow of stray cattle in the city, the District Administration has formed different teams that would ensure no person leaves stray cattle within the city limits. With the efforts of the District Administration, more than 95 percent of stray cattle have already been shifted to the government run Gaushala in village Manal, near here. And to ensure that no more stray cattle enter the city, four teams have been formed.
While providing details, Deputy Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori stated that the District Administration Barnala felt the need to check stray cattle menace in the city as it led to several accidents, besides, sometimes even the stray cattle got seriously injured in accidents.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the main aim of forming teams is to check inflow of stray cattle in the city is to ensure that this problem is checked permanently. He warned that if any person is caught leaving stray cattle in the city, strict action would be taken against them. He said that if any person has any information regarding any such incident, he should bring it to the notice of District Administration at phone number 98723-91004.
He said that the District Level Gaushala at village Manal has been upgraded with a new cattle pond and shed and ever since this comprehensive drive started, more than 850 stray cattle have been shifted there. He informed that the District Administration is committed to make Barnala city free of stray cattle and for that purpose, an aggressive campaign was carried out under which the stray cattle have been shifted to the Gaushala at village Manal.
Mr Thori urged the managements of existing Gaushala's of the district as well as the city residents to assist them for this as well as all other noble causes. All the Panchayats of the District have been requested to not contribute towards stray cattle in the cities and on the highways. Panchayats should contribute in this effort by maintaining stray cattle in the villages.
On the other hand the Deputy Commissioner requested the residents, that considering the increase in number of cattle at Manal, the district administration would need the help of people to arrange cattle hay and feed for the animals. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Parveen Kumar appealed to the city residents that they should not feed the stray cattle at their doorstep or anywhere else in Barnala city. He said that people should instead visit the Gaushala's and feed the cattle there. He also urged them not to leave their pet animals outside their houses and if any person from other city indulges in such a practice, then they should bring it to the notice of District Administration.
