Fatehgarh Sahib, November 21, 2017: To resolve various issues, the stalled talks between the India and Pakistan Governments may start soon as friendly relations between two countries was in the mutual interest, said Sohail Mehmood, High Commissioner of Pakistan while talking to babushahi.com at Roza Sharif today.
He had come to pay obeisance at the annual Urs at Roza Sharif and to interact with Pak pilgrims.
He said that religious exchanges of pilgrims from both the countries will play good role in strengthening relations and confidence among each other as the pilgrims from both the sides are given rousing reception and showered love by the people of both the countries.
Answering a query about the demand of Pak pilgrims to relax visa norms, he said that he was aware of this problem and in the present strain relations between both the countries they are managing to issue visa for religious exchanges.
The Pak pilgrims also raised the issue of liberalised visa norms including issuing of more visas throughout the year instead of only on the occasion of annual Urs. They also demanded increase in duration of stay so that they may visit other places of their choice.
They also demanded that Pak pilgrims should be allowed to carry Dollars as permissible limit of Pakistani currency of Rs.3000 was insufficient.
The High Commissioner assured them he would take up visa issues with Pak Government so that frequent visas were granted to he pilgrims. One should be ready for hardships during pilgrimage, he advised them while appreciating the hospitality extended by the district administration and the people of Punjab.
