LPU researchers to support Smog-free Tower project of Kapurthala school

Jalandhar, December 7, 2017: The researchers of Lovely Professional University (LPU) have assured support to turn the Smog Free Tower model prepared by the students of the Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Kapurthala into reality.
The model was the one among many exhibited by the students of various school at the 45th District Level Science Exhibition hosted by the LPU at its campus here on Wednesday.
The team of budding scientists from this Kapurthala school headed by Sandeep Sood of 10+2 Non-Medical stream informed that this model could be useful; in cleaning densely polluted air in large industrial, parking areas and parks through usage of ‘ionic filters, suction process and vacuum creation’.
They estimated that this 7-metre high building type project incurring about Rs 100 crore could generate an income of Rs 250 crore by converting carbon particles collected through condensation process into diamonds.
The students also shared that China is the only country in the world which is working hard on such projects.
More than 400 students and teachers from 60 schools of the district participated under six science themes in this exhibition-cum-competition. Over 100 models were exhibited at this research oriented science fest.
Other notable projects displayed during this competition included Adventure Calendar, Li-Fi Wireless Power Transmission, Automatic Light System, Smart Bins, Swing Bridge, Hand Held Trans-planter, the best use of paddy-wheat straw and many more.
The LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal and Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal encouraged the young students for their innovative designs and research oriented projects. Both exhorted them to work on such dynamic projects in future as well. On this occasion District Education Officer Satpal Kaur Bajwa, District Science Supervisor, Dean Sorav Lakhanpal, Science Teacher Harjinder Gogna were also present.
