Ferozepur, December 12, 2017: The Central Government has decided to give Rs.2.5 lakh incentive to every inter-caste marriage involving scheduled caste.
The government has withdrawn the condition of the scheme for the candidates availing this benefit whose annual income was Rs.5 lakh per annum.
However, in a big push to encourage inter-caste marriages involving dalits, the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Govt of India, decided to open the scheme for all with no income cap. As per this, the one-time incentive of Rs 2.5 lakh can now be availed by all couples where either the bride or the bridegroom is a Dalit. A letter to this effect has also been issued to the State Unit of Dr.Ambedkar Foundation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vineet Kumar IAS said that the Central Government is giving Rs.2.5 lakh to each newly married couple to encourage inter-caste marriage so that all sections of society are extended the social equality.
He said that to reduce the chances of fraud, this amount will now be given in two instalments. He said that in the first instalment, the newly married couple would get Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh in the second instalment.
He asked the scheduled caste candidates marrying in inter-caste, should avail the maximum benefit of this scheme.
